I have always known that I wanted to be a mom, but I never knew, or expected that it would be as great and rewarding a job as it is. Just when I think I can't love my son anymore than I already do, he says or does something that makes my heart feel like it's going to explode with pride and love. Lately that feeling has multiplied as Matthew is discovering the world of reading and writing. I am so proud to see him grow and blossom into the young man he is becoming and each day he amazes me with the new things he's learning at school. Today he wanted to help me grade papers and when I told him that he couldn't read so he couldn't help me, he quickly corrected me and informed me that his teacher had taught him to read at, bat, and sack. To prove his case he asked for paper and a pen and proceded to spend the next 30+ minutes writing the word bat on a piece of paper and drawing the most adorable pictures of bats I've ever seen. Today's photo shows Matthew hard at work on one of his many drawings of bats -- daddy bats, baby bats and a mom bat. And for those of you who just said, "Oh! That kind of bat!" That's what I did too; bat the animal, not bat like in baseball!
